Fun with St. John House Residents

A couple of years ago, Pastor Mark expressed a desire to turn the parish house into a home for physically challenged individuals. After consulting with Community Living Centers (CLC) and much planning, it finally became a reality about a year ago.

Now we have begun to move ahead with a plan to further engage with the three male residents, Nick, Ryan and Michael, to plan some monthly activities. A couple of months ago, a group of St. John members met with the CLC supervisor, Edie Needham, and one of the residents to plan some monthly activities. Suggestions included bowling, movies, a cider mill, pizza and games and a few holiday events. We were reassured that transportation would be provided by a CLC staff member who would continue to provide supervision during the activity.

Our first outing was a trip to play putt-putt golf and last Sunday we went to the Pumpkin Fest at the MSU Tollgate Farm. Our next outings are yet to be planned but all are welcome to join us. Our current team includes Karol and Lauri Niskanen, Sue and Peter Haapaniemi, Al and Nancy Leszczynski, Loraine Stear and Allan Charlton. If you would like to join in on the fun to plan an activity, contact Karol Niskanen at 248-470-5023.

Here are some photos of the good times we had so far!
