Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.

I have been on break from teaching. It has been a much-needed time to refresh. I cleaned out the refrigerator. I went through the laundry area in the basement, cleaning behind the machines, tackling the loads that wait patiently until they are needed or large enough. They rarely are.

Refresh.

I take a break.

I move my jewelry into the small chest of drawers I got at the historical society's fundraiser auction. It's now organized into drawers for what are most worn, what were my grandma's, and what were my mom's. This sets off a chain reaction of reorganization.

Little steps forward.

I make Evan a special birthday dinner. It's an experiment and it turns out quite well. I'm pleased.

Refresh.

People are out in the streets in Minneapolis. Businesses are closed. It is well below zero, windchills pushing -40. There are thousands and thousands of them.

Refresh. Refresh. Refresh.

I make Evan a fancy birthday cake, something I've never made before. It's really good.

Refresh.

It's a little after noon and I'm finishing my coffee. It's later than usual, but we had a nice morning. I made a delightful hash from leftovers for breakfast. I have some work I should get done. I'll get to it when my coffee is gone.
